KEDIT 5.0 Service Level 4 is the current maintenance release of KEDIT 5.0 for DOS and for OS/2.

If you have an older version of KEDIT 5.0 for DOS, or of the 32-bit version of KEDIT 5.0 for OS/2, you can download a ZIP file with patches that upgrade your copy of KEDIT 5.0 to Service Level 4. (If you have an older 16-bit version of KEDIT 5.0 for OS/2, you will need to contact Mansfield Software Group to get the upgrade on diskette.)

The changes in KEDIT 5.0 Service Level 4 include some Year 2000-related changes to KEDIT's handling of dates in DIR.DIR files, as well as some bug fixes.

DOS Installation

• For the DOS version of the Service Level 4 patch program to work properly, one of the following versions of the KEDIT 5.0 for DOS program must already be present on your system:

• Download K5SL4DOS.ZIP (231K) from our FTP site.
• Create a temporary directory, and unzip into it all of the files contained within K5SL4DOS.ZIP.
• Copy your existing version of KEDIT.EXE into the temporary directory.
• With the temporary directory as your current directory, enter the command from the DOS command line:

  KPATCH

• The KPATCH utility will leave you with an updated version of KEDIT.EXE. (It is dated October 30, 1997 and its size is 215840 bytes. When executed, it identifies itself on the status line as KEDIT 5.00D4.)
• Copy the updated KEDIT.EXE to the directory from which you normally execute KEDIT. You may also want to print out or save the .TXT and .DOC files supplied with this patch. You can then erase the files in the temporary directory that you used to install the patch.

OS/2 Installation

• For the OS/2 version of the Service Level 4 patch program to work properly, one of the following versions of the 32-bit KEDIT for OS/2 program must already be present on your system:

• Download K5SL4OS2.ZIP (277K) from our FTP site.
• Create a temporary directory, and unzip into it all of the files contained within K5SL4OS2.ZIP.
• Copy your existing version of KEDIT.EXE into the temporary directory.
• With the temporary directory as your current directory, enter the command from a DOS command window:

  KPATCH

• The KPATCH utility will leave you with an updated version of KEDIT.EXE. (The module size is 332394 bytes. When executed, it identifies itself on the status line as KEDIT 5.00P4.)
• Copy the updated KEDIT.EXE to the directory from which you normally execute KEDIT. You may also want to print out or save the .TXT and .DOC files supplied with this patch. You can then erase the files in the temporary directory that you used to install the patch.
